The old water tower on the Werder is affectionately known as the "upside down dresser".

It's a mighty brick building.
In the early 2000s there was a plan to renovate this historic building and then to establish apartments there. That was probably too expensive - until now the "dresser" is still there.

The water tower on the Stadtwerder was completed in 1873. Since his four towers look like the legs of a dresser that stands upside down, he has been wearing the affectionate nickname "Upside Down Dresser" ever since.

Today, the water tower is occasionally used for exhibitions and theater productions. In the future, the "reversed chest of drawers" forms the center of a new district. On the site of the former waterworks, 220 residential units are being built in a prime location.
