Pedestrian bridge from the train station to the old town. The bridge takes its name from the toll that was levied to finance and build the bridge. The customs house is at the end of the bridge. Today the two-penny bridge is the starting point for water sports. There is a pedal boat and stand-up paddle rental. There is also a tiny sandy beach.

It was a long way from the town to Melsungen train station over the Bartenwetzer Bridge.
A wooden footbridge was initially built in the summer as a shortcut. The desire arose to create a connection that could be used all year round.
A citizens' committee met and secured the financing.
The bridge was usable from 1891 and a bridge toll of two pfennigs was levied, which had to be paid in the bridge house that still existed.
From 1921 this toll could be waived because the loan had been paid off.
The middle section of the bridge was blown up in 1945.
It was usable again at the end of 1945.
