Castellaro de 'Giorgi is the only hamlet of Torre Beretti and Castellaro in the province of Pavia. It is located northeast of the town. According to some scholars, the locality dates back to the period of Roman domination and owes its name to castra hiberna or winter quarters. Others believe that the toponym expresses the word castelliere, small castle, or stretch of territory around the castle; still others locative in castellum ariu in the metaphorical meaning of peak, well defended hill, fortified high place.
