At the end of the Second World War, the youth movements of Hoeselt built this chapel under the direction of the curate Vliegen. In the back wall is a large field cross with the text: 'and no one who guesses my origin or knows my destination.'

But the origin of the cross is not a mystery: it was the only surviving part of a series of field crosses that stood along the old road between Hoeselt and Alden Biesen. The field crosses recalled a bloody piece of history: the Hoeselaren had ambushed a number of servants from Alden Biesen. Those who managed to escape were overtaken and killed near the Biesenveld. The GERMAN ORDER erected these field crosses as a reminder.
