A very nice place that you should have visited once. As everyone knows, this is where the 451-kilometre-long Weser is formed when the two rivers Werra and Fulda meet. A very often asked quiz question.

Hann. Münden was first mentioned in documents in 1183 and then developed into an important trading town. The wealth can still be seen today in imposing buildings such as the Welf Castle, the Renaissance town hall, defensive towers, remains of the city wall, a medieval stone bridge, more than 700 magnificent half-timbered houses and churches. The town hall with its many ornaments and the imposing portal is a popular photo motif.

The Weserstein marks the confluence of the Werra and Fulda. According to the famous inscription, they lose their name and become the Weser. From here the river begins its 451 km long journey to the North Sea. Historically, however, the Werra forms the actual Weser. It is no coincidence that the names are still similar today and go back to the same origins as "Wesera" or "Wisera". In the course of time, separate names for the upper and lower reaches formed. However, the Fulda has much more water than the Werra. Hannoversch Münden forms the universally recognized source of the Weser.
