The former count's forester's house, also called "Jägerhaus", is located approx. 5 km east of Laubach on the road to Schotten in the area of the village of Ruthardshausen, which went out in 1550.

Not far from a tributary of the Horloff, on the edge of the forest, it served for decades as an excursion destination and restaurant. The elongated single-storey half-timbered building with a two-storey, gabled wing on the right shows simple half-timbered forms with storey-high, straight struts, which indicate a construction in the late 18th or early 19th century.
Erected on a stepped base, the building preserves a two-winged entrance door from the time of construction, closed by a skylight, with coffering and flat ornamentation, as well as a four-step, simple outside staircase.

A plaque attached to the side of the door with the text: "Forsthaus Ruthartshausen, District of Schotten, Landgericht Laubach" refers to the earlier affiliation to the district of Schotten, which was dissolved in 1938.
The building is a cultural monument for historical reasons.
