Up here the hiker will find a cast-iron cross. It was built in honor of the superintendent Hahn, who during the hunger years from 1843 to 1846 worked especially for the hungry. The cross was consecrated on November 27, 1846. It is thanks to the hunting horn blowers from Bleicherode that you can now see the entire silhouette of the Harz Mountains from the newly created “Brockenblick” up here. As early as 1904 Wilhelm Kolbe sang a song of praise for the beauty of this view of the city, the Harz and the Hainleite. At the tables and benches set up up here you can take a break under shady trees and enjoy the wonderful view of the Harz Mountains (with Brocken view) and of course also of Bleicherode.
