The green lung of Chartreuse is located on Mont Cornillon.

This classified site extends over more than 19 hectares between the former military fort, the districts of Bressoux, Amercoeur and Grivegnée, on the right bank of the Meuse.

From 1106,

... from chapel to abbey, ... from monastery to fortress, ... from fort to barracks, ... from prison to military hospital,

the site was demilitarized in 1981 and returned to nature in 1988. (Wikipedia)

Most of the fort is in ruins, it is a delight for the photographer who loves urbex and graffiti.

The ramparts and glacis are covered with vegetation

This vegetation is very diverse, between large trees and moors, on land that sometimes slopes steeply with some views of the city.
