      The way to the source has only a few vantage points and is not that nice. But the effort is worth it, the spring is fascinating and a dip in the ice-cold water is refreshing. A steep climb from the source leads to wonderful alpine meadows and views.

        If it rained the day before, the steep descent (path with rocks and tree roots) in the forest (the last 200 meters) gets slippery and harder to navigate. You'll likely need hiking shoes.

                    The Sava Bohinjka, which originates here (at least according to some sources), is one of two source rivers, along with the Sava Dolinka. After a short lifespan of 41 kilometers and 45 kilometers respectively, the two rivers merge in Radovljica to form the Sava, which in turn flows through three capitals (successor states of Yugoslavia) over a distance of approximately 940 kilometers: Ljubljana (Slovenia), Zagreb (Croatia), and Belgrade (Serbia).
