Hof Ten Hemelrijk originally consisted of a mansion, a large barn, stables, an open manure heap, a standard fruit orchard and lots of grassland. The municipality bought the site from the Vereertbrugghen family in 1977 and laid out the site as a park. It was a classic, uninspiring park with monotonous lawns and play equipment. The park was deteriorating. Thirteen years later, the environmental service proposed a more ecological management of the site. Et voilà, le nouveau Hof ten Hemelrijk has arrived.
The farm complex was transformed into a community center with cafeteria, the grounds around it became a recreational neighborhood park with ecological value. The Asbeek was restored to its former glory: it got gently sloping banks that stimulate the vegetation. In the center of the park was a lawn with a few seats and play elements. A pond with reed planting and a decking path forms an ideal playground. An earthen amphitheater, a paved skate and sports field, a standard orchard and a playground are also part of the domain.
