Interesting approach in nature conservation. The amphibious pool is a bit hidden next to the Horlachgraben away from the general routes, which is of course intentional. Thanks to MrLebies for the tip.

In order to promote biodiversity and protect endangered species, the lower nature conservation authority of the city of Rüsselsheim had a pool created for amphibians at the Horlachegraben in February.

The BUND local association Rüsselsheim / Raunheim created three shallow water bays on the Horlachegraben in the Raunheim district to make it easier for spawning and young fish and amphibians to survive and grow up. The shallow water in these bays heats up much faster and offers optimal development conditions. The low water level is also intended to protect against predators such as pike, because this section of the Horlache is called the “predatory fish tank” by the local fishing club.
