Around 1718, Count Christian Gottlieb von Holtzendorff inherited the Oberlichtenau manor. In order to take up his inheritance, he needed a proper accommodation. That is why he had a baroque palace built from 1724 and a park designed in the English and French style with valuable sandstone sculptures.
