The memorial in the Elfbergen forest in Oudemirdum (municipality of De Fryske Marren) was erected in memory of two fellow citizens who were shot here by the occupier on February 27, 1945.

The names of the two victims are:

Jacob Wilbers and Johannes Wissink.

Both victims were also buried at this location.

Jacob Wilbers was born on May 4, 1918 in Oudega. He was a teacher at the Christian primary school in Abbega. In the resistance he held the position of armament officer of the Dutch armed forces in the municipality of Wymbritseradeel. Wilbers was arrested on February 23, 1945 in Woudsend and executed four days later. He was reburied on July 9, 1945 in the N.H. cemetery in Oudega.

Johannes Wissink was born on April 4, 1920 in Scheveningen. He was a ship's carpenter in the Royal Navy in Den Helder. After the war days in May 1940, Wissink went to Sneek, where he became commander of the sabotage group as a former non-commissioned officer. In the resistance he was known under the pseudonym "Alex". Wissink was also arrested and shot in the Oudmirdumer forest. His reburial followed on July 10, 1945 in the Nieuw Eykenduynen in The Hague.
