At this point on the sculpture path between Grünhagen and Bienenbüttel stands the sculpture “Wegweiser 2” by the wood sculptor Rahel Schröder from the Lüneburg district

The artist was inspired by the landscape of the Ilmenau and the respective location of the works. Both of her sculptures on the path are two figures positioned on steles. "Wegweiser 1" shows an unclothed man who carries a red walking stick and puts his left hand to his ear, listening. “Wegweiser 2” marks the middle of the sculpture path and shows the visitor the further way. The sculpture shows a woman who wears a dress and puts her hands to her mouth shouting. The representation of communication is intended to sensitize the visitors to perceive the sculpture exhibition with all their senses, according to the artist. The “signposts”, which, according to Schröder, serve as “frames and silent companions”, greet and bid farewell to visitors. “Your gestures span the exhibition,” says Schröder. The sculptress emphasizes the harmony between art and nature through the use of oak. The large, old oaks in the Lüneburg district are a feature of the landscape and the localities. Due to the graying of the weather-resistant wood, the sculptures fit more and more into the landscape and in a certain way become part of it, according to Schröder.
