Wine estate situated in a beautiful area. Definitely worth a tour and tasting the different types of wine! Also a nice terrace for spring/summer!

The first mention of the castle dates from 1265, when it was built by Godenoel van Elderen. In 1407 this was burned down by troops from Tongeren. A new castle was founded by Godenoel IV van Elderen. Until 1718, the castle belonged to the noble family of Elderen, a illustrious family whose best-known descendant, Johan Lodewijk van Elderen, was Prince-Bishop of Liège in the seventeenth century. After the Van Elderen family came the d'Oyembrugge families and, from 1754, De Borchgrave. Count Michel-Walrame de Borchgrave restored the castle at the end of the 18th century. A French garden was also created at the time. In 1859 the castle, then badly dilapidated, was extensively renovated by Count Guillaume de Borchgrave in neoclassical style and the Louis-Philippe style. In 1869 the castle came to Gillain de Tirlemont. Later the French Fathers of the Sacred Heart lived here and in 1906 the castle was sold to the Beauduin family. In 1991 it came to Jaap van Rennes who created a new vineyard, which with its 22 hectares has become one of the largest in Belgium. Part of it is located on the 'Wijngaardveld', an old toponym that indicates that winegrowing was also done in the past.
