Once a chain of buntings stretched along the North on the east side of Ridderkerk. Now there are three completely different nature and recreation areas. We start our walk in Gorzenpark. This former landfill has been transformed into a hilly nature reserve with various water features.

In the swamp area at the foot of the rubble mountain is a bald cypress with aerial roots. Bald cypresses are native to the swampy delta region of the Mississippi in the southern United States, where they are in the water at high tide. Because the roots cannot get enough air in this way, this tree develops protrusions near water that protrude above the water.

We walk through the gate to the Crezéepolder.

The Crezéepolder has been transformed in recent years into a nature reserve where the tide (1 meter) has been given access.

In a short time, the new nature reserve has already acquired a great reputation among bird watchers

De Gorzen is a park located on the east side of Ridderkerk, between the Nieuwe Veer and the Nieuwe haven. The nature and recreation park De Gorzen is a former waste dump with an area of 40 hectares. As a result of all kinds of activities and circumstances, it has been transformed into a hilly nature reserve with many water features in a period of half a century.
