The polder mill "de Wicher" in Kalenberg is a unique spider mill, and it is the only one in Overijssel. Originally, this mill was used to regulate the water level in the "de Boonspolder" and keep it at the correct level. Even today, the mill still plays a crucial role in the management of the water in this area. It is remarkable that the mill was originally demolished in 1943, but was rebuilt in 1982 with careful reconstruction. This means that this piece of historic water management is preserved for future generations to admire and understand.

Beautiful nature reserve, too much of it on public roads and partly on the boot pass. And we didn't have boots with us, which wasn't ideal :-( The weather was dry, with little to no rain beforehand, and it was around 15 degrees Celsius.
