At 494 meters long, it narrowly missed the 500-meter mark, but the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge—or Europe Bridge, as it's widely known because it's part of the Europe Trail from Grächen to Zermatt—is currently (August 2017) the longest suspension bridge in the world. Of course, you'll need a head for heights to walk across the bridge's grating, which allows a view down below at any time. A possible test hike for those with a fear of heights is a 100-meter-long suspension bridge near Furi above Zermatt, which extends 90 meters above the Gorner Gorge.
