The Piave Vecchia lighthouse is located at the mouth of the Sile, known as the port of Piave Vecchia, in the municipality of Cavallino-Treporti. It therefore overlooks the Adriatic, on the banks of the Sile river along the border between the towns of Jesolo and Cavallino.
A first building was built, for military purposes, in 1846 under the Austrian government. Destroyed by the German army during the Second World War, it was rebuilt between 1949 and 1951 by the Civil Engineers of Venice.
The lighthouse, cylindrical in shape and with black and white bands, is 48 meters high. The top can be reached via a spiral staircase made up of 243 steps in Istrian stone. The light signal is visible up to 18 miles away. (Source Wikipedia)
