In the 16th century, the population in the Oschersleben area became Evangelical-Lutheran with the introduction of the Reformation. Only in the 19th century did Catholics resettle in greater numbers in Klein Oschersleben; it was mostly workers from Eichsfeld and Upper Silesia who found employment as harvest workers and industrial workers. The opening of the Magdeburg – Halberstadt railway line in 1843, to which Klein Oschersleben was connected via Hadmersleben station, and the sugar factories built in Klein Oschersleben in 1863 and 1879 contributed to the economic development of Klein Oschersleben.

Plans to build the church began in 1895. The foundation stone was laid on June 24, 1900. Dechant Hüllen carried out a provisional inauguration of the brick church, built in the neo-Gothic style, on August 18, 1901. The bells were put into operation for the Rosary Festival in 1901. The consecration took place on August 20, 1902 by Auxiliary Bishop Augustinus Gockel, the confirmation on August 21 of the same year.
