Floor sculpture that the Israeli artist Micha Ullman installed in the courtyard of Solitude Castle in June 1994; The 29 phases of the lunar cycle were engraved into individual cobblestones in a circle 15 m in diameter. The 29 moon signs are about 4 cm tall, depending on the weather and season, each hollow moon shape throws its smaller or larger shadow on the ground: The shadow play in this almost invisible sculpture only takes place directly in front of the beholder's eyes. The cycle of months and seasons, the circle as a geometric shape, are the main features of the architecture of Schloss Solitude. In the spirit of Solitude, the sculpture also wants to work through its silence and fit into the symbolism of the castle.
