    In the Maggia valley there are some river suspension bridges over the sometimes very wide Maggia. One of the most beautiful of these is that at Giumaglio. The suspension bridge, which was built in 1997, has 2 sections, each with a span of 83 meters and a section of 82 meters in length. The total length is a fabulous 248 meters.

                  Beautiful Bridge which wakes up the butterfly's in the tummy when you walk over.
                  Not easy for dogs as it's one long grid to cross plus bouncy. But our Golden Redriver did very well as I just let him go by it's own.

                        The Maggia Valley offers excellent hamlets with typical stone houses, lots of nature and interesting architectural monuments. Brave drivers continue beyond Fusio to two reservoirs and several blue mountain lakes up to Lago del Naret. But be careful, the road is narrow and single-lane in places and not secured - a head for heights is required.
                        Speaking of suspension bridge: the Ponte Tibetano near Monte Carasso (Bellinzona) is really exciting.
