The Burnjak retention regulates the water waves of the Burnjak stream, a tributary of the Toplica river, in the Krapina river basin, in order to defend against floods in the Stubičke region.

The volume of Burnjak retention is 1,800,000 m3, and the investor was Hrvatske vode. The value of the construction of the retention was approximately 10,000,000 kuna.
In retention, ie. the retention dam was fitted with 40,050 cubic meters of stone material, 4,800 cubic meters of clay that forms the impermeable core of the dam, 2,800 cubic meters of concrete, almost 132 tons of iron reinforcement and 3.5 tons of iron accessories and 9,000 square meters of geotextile. The area it covers is 15 square kilometers, while its volume is 1.8 million cubic meters of space in one flood wave. It is 20 meters high and 80 meters long in the crown, which makes it one of the largest retentions in the Republic of Croatia.
