"The port was begun in the early 1920s on the initiative of Mayor Konrad Adenauer. As early as 1900, the port administration presented a cost plan for the new port in Niehl, but it wasn't until 1912 that a final decision was made on the planning. Despite initial reservations about the high costs, the benefits in the form of jobs and tax revenues overcame the decision."

I would say that anything that has to do with industry is not really nice.
The port is very easy to reach on foot or by bike.
There are fewer cars here, but a lot of trucks.
