A few hundred meters from the main road, on the right, at the top of a hillock you can see the imposing structure of the Pieve di San Cassiano.
The Pieve di San Cassiano is an ancient Romanesque church not far from the hamlet of Castel Cavallino. The church has a basilica plan with three naves, divided by two rows of cylindrical columns, in tufaceous stone, alternating with pillars; it has traces of frescoes, in particular in the apse area. The bell tower has a very massive structure, because it was erected for military purposes as a fortification and a lookout point, thanks to its favorable geographical position, from which you could see the underlying Foglia valley and the road that went up to Urbino. In Roman times it was assumed that there was a temple dedicated to the Goddess Pallas, because in the past a base of a statue was found whose inscription referred to this Goddess.
