The varying amounts of precipitation throughout the year make it necessary to accumulate the minimum amount required for water treatment. During floods, up to 230 m³ of water per second could be diverted in a controlled manner. In order to comply with the EU Drinking Water Regulation, which will apply from 2008, a nanofilter system (membrane filtering) is currently being built to reduce the addition of chlorine gases, which must be increased when the water level is low, to a maximum of 100 mg m³.
