Aubrac is a village in the commune of Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac in the department of Aveyron, located south of the central part of the Massif Central, on the high plateau of Aubrac. This village owes its existence to the creation in the 12th century of a monastic hospital, the Domerie d'Aubrac, from which it inherited its name. After a decline in the middle of the 20th century, it has become since the 1980s one of the main tourist centers of the Aubrac plateau, despite a very small permanent population. (Wikipedia)
