The city park, now called Verna Park, historicizing and enhancing its image, offers many interesting details. The "Trompe-l`oeil" illusion painting on the replica of a castle ruin is impressive. You should plan at least one hour for a tour.

Stadtpark or Verna Park in Rüsselsheim
Rüsselsheim is much more than Opel. Opposite the historic Opel villas and the fortress, this small and beautifully landscaped park extends on the banks of the Main with idyllic places to linger.

The park was laid out from 1850 to 1865 as the “Park for the Palais des Freiherrn von Verna”. At that time it was one of the most beautiful gardens in Germany and is still an absolute feast for the eyes today. In addition to the bird house, the artificial ruins such as the illusion castle, the sculptures, temples and the obelisk are particularly impressive.
Since 1912 the park has been urban and therefore also freely accessible. The nearby Opel villas and, of course, the Rüsselsheim fortress with its museum, as well as the adjacent extensive banks of the Main, invite you to take long tours.

If there is no Corona, there is a Christmas market on a weekend in December and a wine festival in Verna Park on the first weekend in July. Both are wonderful parties in the park.
