The Ahrdorf-Blankenheim Wald railway line was designed as a supplementary line to the southern connection from Dümpelfeld via Lissendorf to Losheim and, given the difficult and remote terrain, was complex and expensive. After approval in 1909, construction work began on April 1, 1910. In addition to countless bridges (including the four-arch Freilingen Viaduct), overpasses and underpasses, three tunnels and several rock cuts up to 30 meters deep had to be built along the route. The railway line was opened on May 1, 1913. In 1961, the Blankenheim Wald-Ahrdorf railway line was closed. Source: kuladig.de/Object View/O-CW-20120413-0001

Here you can still see very well where the train used to pass. To think that all of this had to be dug out by hand. An unbelievable leadership in earlier years.
