At 156 meters, Kemmelberg is the highest point in the province. At its summit is the Belvédère Tower: a tourist observation tower offering a magnificent panoramic view of the entire region. Signs explain the main attractions at your feet. In good weather, you can even see the coast.

Access to the tower is free on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.), Saturdays (from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.), and Sundays (from noon to 8 p.m.). (July and August until 9 p.m.)

The Kemmelberg (156 m) is the highest witness hill in the West Flemish Heuvelland. On the western flank you will find a 17 m high column, erected in 1932, known as 'Den Engel'. The figure looks at the obelisk on the mass grave (ossary) at the foot of the mountain. Today there are 5294 bodies of French soldiers from the First World War lying together. Only 57 of them could be identified.
