Wilhelm Anton Riedemann, from Riedemann since 1917 (born December 8, 1832 in Meppen, † January 20, 1920 in Lugano) was a German merchant, entrepreneur and pioneer in tanker shipping.
In 1890, Riedemann, together with Franz and Carl Schütte and the standard oil company of the oil magnate John D. Rockefeller, was a co-founder of the German-American Petroleum Society (DAPG) based in Hamburg (since 1950 Esso).

Built for the late daughter of Sophie the entrepreneur and pioneer of tanker shipping Wilhelm Anton Riedemann (* 1832, † 1920) who lived in Hamburg from 1890 to 1917. He founded in 1890 with J.D. Rockefeller, Franz Ernst Schütt and Carl Schütte the German-American Petroleum Society (DAPG) - which later became Esso and today Exxon Mobile.
The neo-Romanesque mausoleum was created by Martin Haller. Under the tomb chapel there is an underground crypt with 35 burial sites. The namesake himself died in Switzerland, where he is buried.
