The viewing terrace in front of the main ETH building, called "Polyterrasse", can be reached in just 2.5 minutes with the Polybahn from Central.
Visitors come here to enjoy the magnificent view over the old town, on nice days the view extends as far as the Alps.
The ETH cafeteria is under the terrace.

The Polyterrasse, located between ETH Zurich and the university, offers the best view of Zurich's old town. The imposing building of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) was built in 1864 according to plans by Gottfried Semper. Fifty years later, the University of Zurich (UZH) was built right next door, a no less impressive building, which today sees over 30,000 students and staff.
The observation terrace in front of the ETH main building – called the Polyterrasse – can be reached by Polybahn from Zurich Central Station in just 2.5 minutes.
From here, you have a magnificent view of the old town.
