Around the middle of the 12th century, work was started on the current St. James' Church. As is often the case with historic buildings, this church was also built and renovated for centuries. One of the most beautiful works of art in the church is a renaissance-era black marble and copper tabernacle.
Unfortunately, the church is limited open, only on Friday and Saturday in the morning.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, the lively square around the Sint-Jacobskerk is taken over by the flea market.
The market is so entrenched that in the streets around the Romanesque church of St. James – next to the renowned antique gallery St-John – various trinkets and curiosities have nestled. At Sint-Jacobs is really the place to be for collectors!
