The Dutch National Park De Biesbosch is a very watery nature and recreation area. Characteristic are the freshwater tides, creeks and willow tidal forests. It consists of a number of river islands and sand and mud flats in the provinces of North Brabant and South Holland. They lie between the rivers Boven-Merwede and Amer, and are intersected by the artificial river Nieuwe Merwede. On the east side, the area is bordered by the Land van Heusden and Altena. It can be divided into the Brabantse Biesbosch and the Hollandse Biesbosch, the latter consisting of the Sliedrechtse Biesbosch and the Dordtse Biesbosch.

The Oostwaardpad is a 21 kilometer walking route over farmland and unpaved walking paths. Walking route in the Oostwaard on the edge of the Biesbosch.

The farmers have opened their fields and meadows especially to hikers. During the walking route you can use a ferry.

The ferry across the Bakkerskil river takes hikers to the other side. Hikers can then continue with the route. Who will be at the helm?

A osier worker's hut is hidden in the nature reserve. There is an option to spend the night there for free. There are no facilities available.
