Erve Middelkamp is a typical Twente farm complex. The hall house farm and the former pigsty were built in the early 20th century, in half-timbered with red brick infill. The older hay barn on the property is striking.
In today's "building Netherlands", "circular construction" is becoming a household name. This means that building materials must be able to be reused. Nothing new under the sun when you look at these barns. The "mortise and tenon" connections used ensured that in the past one could easily move a shed from one yard to another.
