In the middle of the 18th century, an "emergency mill" was erected on the eastern side of the lake, which was put into operation in the event of the breakdown of the large mill on the western, city-facing side of the lake. This "emergency mill" is obviously the still existing half-timbered building. In 1859, the then two-storey four-storey mill building was built in massive brick construction. The increase was carried out in 1948. For the beginning of the 19th century, the functions of a grain, Loh, Walk and sawmill are mentioned in a document. In 1935, the mill has 4 water wheels, 2 grain mills on the massive building and 2 oil mills on the half-timbered building. Since 1980, a turbine has been supplying the entire power plant with electricity. From 1992-1996, the mill was refurbished according to historical standards and converted to residential purposes.

Historical watermill.

The Eckstein Mühle is a historic water mill and is located in the core town of Neustadt am Rübenberge on the small Leine. The two generators produce electricity, which is fed into the Neustadt municipal utility network.

The large, former mill building has been developed into a residential building for several parties and is privately owned.
