The field cross is intended to protect the Ockstadt fruit growers from worries and misfortune:
"Beware of lightning and storms - protect us, O Lord".
At the cross there is a bench from which you have a beautiful view of Ockstadt, Friedberg and Bad Homburg and the cherry orchards.
There is also an insect hotel.
The cross faces east where the sun rises.

This small sacred monument, which stands here on the Kirschenberg, does not bear the body of the crucified Christ, but instead an inscription that is still highly relevant today: The 'A' at the intersection of the longitudinal and transverse beams stands for the two words 'PAX' (Latin) and the English 'PEACE'. In the Gospel of John, Jesus says to his disciples: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you" (John 14:27). What could the world need more today...?
