    Neustadt's town hall on Hanau's market square dates back to the 17th century and was finally built between 1723 and 1733 to designs by Christian Ludwig Hermann in Baroque style. The town hall tower was added in 1755; he received a clock and a carillon. The latter sounds daily at 10, 12, 16 and 18 o'clock.

      The Neustadt Town Hall in Hanau stands on what is now the market square and is still the town hall of Hanau today. Construction was decided upon in 1606, but was repeatedly postponed due to cost reasons. The foundation stone was laid in 1725, and construction of the town hall was completed in 1733.

              The foundation stone for the Neustadt Town Hall was laid in 1725, more than 100 years after the town was founded by Walloon and Dutch religious refugees. The front gable bears the double coat of arms of Count Johann Reinhard III, who was responsible for the construction, and his wife Friederike of Brandenburg-Ansbach. The cast-iron balcony railing is decorated with the gilded coat of arms of the Neustadt, including the city's patron saint, Hanovia, and the year 1733, the date of the building's completion. Towards the end of the Second World War, the Neustadt Town Hall, like virtually the entire town, was destroyed in a bombing raid on March 19, 1945. The town hall was rebuilt in the 1960s using preserved parts of the facade and restored surrounding walls.
