Every year on the last weekend in July, the International Wood Sculpture Competition invites you to Weichers Mühle between Bad Düben and the picturesque heath village of Tornau. Artists from Germany and large parts of Europe have used chainsaws over 20 times in a row to create works of art out of wood. From two to three meter high, massive tree trunks, professional and hobby artists create imposing wooden figures to match the theme. The spectacle is framed by a colorful program with lots of music and numerous cultural highlights. Visitors can stroll through a heather market with regional specialties from the “Best from the Düben Heath” network and enjoy culinary delights in the nature park's largest summer beer garden. Game specialties, cakes, ice cream, flower arrangements, ceramics, handmade soaps, a variety of vegetables, herbs, heather brandy as well as tea and spices are on offer. Meanwhile, children can let off steam on the bouncy castle and the large meadow. The start is at 10 a.m. There is an open-air service on Sunday at 9 a.m.
