The members of the Pálóczy-Horváth family were the landlords of Örkény in the 20th century. in the first half of the century. In addition to the Reformed church, the brick factory, the small railway, the model farm and the school, István, the enterprising head of the family, built a mansion serving as the family's home close to the village, which the vernacular called the "castle". After the Second World War, the party office and the offices of the Peace TSZ found a home in the castle, and then the house of culture moved into it. The building, which has been worn out for decades, was renovated by the municipality in 2006, and its surroundings were landscaped. Inside, there is nothing reminiscent of the older castle character of the building, it currently functions as a leisure center and venue for various indoor and outdoor events.
The Leisure Center has a 300-seat Theater Hall, several smaller specialist rooms, offices and guest rooms.Behind the building, it is worth walking around the forest of huge oaks and yew trees, which was once the castle park. The park has lighting for evening walks. It can be visited 24 hours a day. The Leisure Center is open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays, depending on the event on Saturday.
