    The sharpening stone is a wayside shrine. The enigmatic Scharstein stands near a spider road at the highest point of the Dürrenberg.

    Located on the hiking trail "European Culture Trail - Dammbach" Between Scharstein and Geißhöhe "

    Its niche facing northwest is unfortunately empty and was damaged by target practice in 1945. The exceptionally large base bears the date 1586, which can only be guessed at, on the south-east side. The shaft bears a raised spear on the north side. The Spessart legend is linked to the Scharstein, according to which two Krausenbacher boys killed each other with plowshares when they were jealous of a hunter who they actually wanted to kill. The forest chapel on Scharstein dates from the 18th century. It is mainly visited in the period of growth in May - this is to be seen in connection with the field landscape that used to be open here.
