The Leugenstein, which was erected on the Römerstrasse near Hagenbach under Emperor Aurelius Carus, gives the distance to the then administrative seat Noviomagus, today's Speyer, as 16 Leugen (1 Leuge = about 2.3 km). Since the up to 3 m high ancient stone columns also provide information about the respective builder of the road, they are important sources for the historical research of Roman road construction.

Next to the old sawmill is a reproduction of the Leugenstein found here. The original is in the Palatinate History Museum.
