Here in the Ruhr area, two headframes, which are very similar in architecture and differ greatly from the usual headframes, form the western and eastern borders of the metropolitan area or the themed route "Landmark Art" and are about 83 kilometers apart in Kamp- Lintfort and in the Westphalian town of Bönen. Bönen is a municipality on the eastern border of the Unna district and therefore also on the edge of the Ruhr area. The winding tower over shaft IV of the Königsborn colliery, which was built from 1924 to 1929 and planned by the architect Alfred Fischer, stands out from the site

You can ask the community foundation for a guided tour, it was very interesting and very beautiful despite the bad rainy weather.
There was also something for the children: a replica tunnel that they could explore wearing a helmet and a lamp with original batteries.
The path from Bönen train station to the winding tower is approx. 2km with a gated railway crossing.
