This stretch of the River Parrett Trail makes you feel as though the land around you is more river than grass. With the Parrett on one side and the artificial Sowy on the other, you get pretty views across the surrounding, low-lying fields and drainage systems.
The Sowy River leads water from the Parrett to the King’s Sedgemoor Drain, helping alleviate excess water levels. The Sowy is also part of a system that allows the seasonal flooding of a nearby floodplain and aid habitats for waterfowl.
