NEŽINA POT
At a time of grief and evil, full of Turkish declines, diligent shepherds Jošt and Jernej lived and worked together in Kostanjevica na Krki, caring for an innumerable flock of sheep. They realized that they and the herd had to ingeniously flee their native Kostanjevica if they wanted to save her and bring her to safety. They drove the herd northwest of Dolenjska, towards the mighty Kum mountain range. Here they met a compatriot, a beautiful girl named Neža, who knew the secret corners of nature and more or less favorable weather conditions. She helped them along the most suitable route towards Kum and directed them across the Sava River towards Styria. Neža bewitched over the Little Godfather. She knelt devoutly on the rock and prayed that the sheep with the shepherds would be happily saved. Neža was captured by the Turks and because she did not want to reveal where the flock of sheep was, they severely cut off her head. Here in the rock where she knelt remained the imprint of her tiny knees. Good people erected the chapel of St. John the Baptist. A gentleman who still remembers these events today.
