The first documented mention of a church in Miesenbach goes back to the year 1416 AD. The current external shape of the Miesenbach parish church dates from the end of the 17th century. The first cleric from Miesenbach, mentioned in writing, was called Coloman Grueber, was vicar and is mentioned in a letter from the bishop to the archbishop in 1565. During the interior renovation in 1969/70, the beautiful altar from the Loretto Chapel was transferred to the church as the main altar. Johann Baptist Fischer, father of the world-famous baroque master builder Bernhard Fischer von Erlach (Schönbrunn Palace, Karlskirche in Vienna, etc.), is considered the creator of this valuable piece of jewelry. With the exception of St. Kunigunde: It is the work of the school caretaker von Fehring, dates from 1970 and cost S 5000 in its raw condition. It was painted and gilded by the Vorau church restorer Schaunigg.
