This lookout tower stands like a true work of art in the middle of nature with clear references to this historic place, the Vossenberg fortress. Belfort de Vossenberg has a simple but robust shape, inspired by the casemates, a kind of bunker, of which there are still some in the immediate vicinity. The raised foundation of the tower also refers to this piece of war history. The short sides are covered with wood. The long sides are open, giving you a beautiful view of the four platforms that this 22-meter-high tower has. At the very top, a phenomenal view of De Groote Peel awaits you.

If you stand next to the 22-meter-high Belfort, you are on historical ground. More than 75 years ago, soldiers fought for the freedom of the entire Netherlands on this swampy ground. This can still be clearly seen from the six bunkers next to the tower, also known as casemates, which are part of the Peelraamstelling. A path leads from the tower, which not only formed the escape route from Meijel to Brabant, but was also essential for peat extraction in the Peel.
