The Nasse Wand is named after the natural phenomenon that water constantly flows out of the rock between the rock layers that slope towards the stream. In summer, it runs down the wall in small streams and in winter, when it is frosty, it freezes into mighty icicles. The natural beauty of this place inspired various artists, such as the Viennese Friedrich Gauermann, a respected painter of the Austrian Biedermeier period in the mid-19th century, and decades later Max Nordt.
A small rest stop at the Nasse Wand attracts hikers and cyclists to stop for a short break. In winter, mulled wine is available here to warm up.
