Kala Patthar, which literally means 'black stone', is a Nepalese peak located at an altitude of 5,645 metres. Kala Patthar offers one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the entire Everest region. On the one hand, in fact. the splendid Pumori is admirable; on the other, Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse stand out. Furthermore, the Everest Glacier can be admired in all its majesty.

The trip to the Kalar Patar is especially worthwhile because you can not even see the summit of Mount Everest in the base camp. Then you better climb the "balcony of the Himalayas" and enjoy the view in good weather. Many a Kalar Patar climbs only at sunset - but then you have to watch out for the descent in complete darkness!
