Beautiful dry valley where you can walk up to Scheulder on one side and down to Schin op Geul on the other.
The Gerendal is mainly an asymmetrical dry valley of over three kilometres long, situated between the Geuldal in the north near Schin op Geul and the plateau of Margraten near Scheulder in the south. On the east side of the valley lies a continuous and steep wooded calcareous slope. The forests are interrupted in a few places by species-rich calcareous grasslands with numerous types of orchids. Behind this slope with ridge lies a small valley with the Sousberg and the Keutenberg behind it. On the west side of the Gerendal lies, among other things, the Sint-Jansbosch with the Groeve Gerendal in it.

The Gerendal is still very beautiful in terms of landscape and also very quiet as no car traffic is allowed. There is a car park at the hamlet of Strucht. A 2 km walk leads to the central part of the valley with the Orchid Garden, near the forester's house.
